It’s easy and perhaps a little too convenient to fall into a Valentine’s Day routine, and then simply follow it year after year; a box of chocolates, a bouquet of flowers and a meal down the local Italian restaurant. Granted, there’s nothing wrong with playing it safe – but surely a bit of spontaneity would make a welcome change?
Why not break from the usual Valentine’s Day clichés and embrace the spirit of spontaneity. Instead of a treating your loved one to a Valentine’s Day shopping trip down the high street; sweep them off their feet with a surprise city break. Use your imagination and dare to be different.
We’ve pulled together a few ‘do’s’ and ‘don’ts’ to get you on the right track this Valentine’s Day. The rest is up to you…
Did you know?
According to Dr Ben Voyer, a psychologist at The London School of Economics, we’re actually all born to be spontaneous. The instincts we’re born with “actually help us free ourselves from the barriers that usually affect our decision making.” The pressures of conforming to modern day society, however, mean that “we suppress these natural spontaneous instincts.”
If any of our spontaneous Valentine’s Day ideas take your fancy, why not share it? You never know, your partner might take the hint..!
