There’s nothing worse than battling the crowds and the weather on Christmas Eve in an attempt to find the perfect gifts. With only five weeks to go until the big day, get organised now and you could actually enjoy the experience – with complimentary food and drinks, events for all the family and more, there’s plenty going on in the capital.
Traffic Free Day – 24th November
The annual Traffic Free Day on Oxford Street and Regent Street is on the 24th November this year – don’t miss the complimentary Winter Warmers on offer at St. Christopher’s Place, a hidden enclave behind the hustle and bustle of the main street. Smart boutiques centre round a pretty fountain where you can find all sorts of treats and unique presents.
Oxford Street has everything you could ever want and more
For weather proof shopping, you can’t beat Westfield Stratford. This year a very high tech Santa will be in his Grotto making a 5D movie. Every child that takes part will have their picture included in the movie about Elbow the Elf saving Christmas. As well as shopping, there’s also ice skating and Reindeer petting along with a range of restaurants and cafes where you can rest weary legs.
Designers/Makers Market, Southbank – 14th-16th December
Southbank comes alive at Christmas with a host of cultural events and entertainment. For unique gifts, make sure you pop in to the Designers/Makers Market on 14th-16th December. Artisans from all over the country come together at Queen Elizabeth Hall and while you’re there you can also pick up speciality food and drink at the Real Food Christmas Market.
Covent Garden Festive Shopping Night – 29th November
Combine a trip to the theatre or the opera with some shopping in Covent Garden on the Festive Shopping Night on 29th November. Over 120 shops and boutiques around the Seven Dials village and St. Martin’s Courtyard will be offering 20% off as well as complimentary food, drinks and events. The whole area will also be traffic-free. Pop in to Dial Bar and Restaurant on Seven Dials for a pit stop – the perfect place to sip cocktails.
