There’s not long to go now until the Summer Sundae Weekender brightens up the East Midlands once again. The three day live music festival, held at Leicester’s De Montfort Hall has grown from being a modest little event in 2001 to what has been described as “Little Glastonbury”.
Despite being located in a city centre, this fest has it all – with camping and everything. The Summer Sundae has had some great acts on the lineup before now, including James Morrison and Moby – although it is also known for breaking new artists before they hit it big.
On the lineup this year are the excellent Mumford and Sons, the critically acclaimed Seasick Steve, Tinchy Stryder, The Go! Team, The Futurehads and claw-hand herself – Diana Vickers.
There are huge stages both indoors and outdoors and the last.fm rising stage will be well worth checking out. Surrounding the festival is the Summer Sundae “Fringe” fest – which sees loads of local bands play dozens of the cities bars and pubs.
It’s not a festival to be scoffed at by any means, and the good news is there are a few tickets left.
