The Leicester Comedy Festival isn’t the only time when comedians come to town. Hell no.
This Summer, there’s some of the hottest (no pun intended) comedy talent coming to the City, giving comedy lovers in the Midlands a preview of what will be going down in Edinburgh this Summer.
First up, Rob Rouse – a funny man who has appeared on various tv shows like 8 out of 10 Cats and the Friday Night Project – brings his razor sharp wit to Firebug on Thursday 1st July. Rob’s show leads us on a hilarious journey as he tells us about becoming a Father for the first time and gives us a further insight to the antics enjoyed by his randy dog. Tickets are £10 or £8 with concessions.
On Wednesday 21st July, there’s a double header from the excellent Phil Kay. Phil is one of Scotlands finest comedians and he’s been described as “one of the greatest comedic odysseys ever witnessed”. John Robbins has a new hour of material to try out, so be kind to him.
Paul Sinah is a gay man, doctor and comedian with something of a controversial sense of humour. If you thought Frankie Boyle was near the knuckle, then you’d be right. But so is Paul. Joining Paul on Thursday 22nd July is Seann Walsh, who won Chortle’s Best Newcomer 2009 – so we assume he’s good.
No jokes about coke please, Jack Whitehall is going to be in town on Sunday 25th July with his “Learning Difficulties” show. The official bunf reads “People say you learn from your mistakes, Jack reckons that’s rubish. We just keep making the same mistakes but just get slightly better at dealing with the fallout”. Despite Jack’s slightly dodgy antics with the white stuff, he is a superb comedian who absolutely nailed it at last year’s Edinburgh festival. You might have seen him on Big Brother’s Big Mouth and Stand Up for The Week – now see him in the flesh.
Joining Jack on the 25th is Gary Delaney, who doesn’t bother with the clever interwining of stories and jokes, he just does jokes. With more one liners than you can shake a stick at, he’ll have you laughing if it kills him.
Seriously, these guys will all sell out in Edinburgh this Summer so it’s well worth hop-footing it to Leicester City Centre to check them out. All of these gigs take place at The Firebug on Millstone Lane, Leicester. Shows start at 8pm. Should be a laugh.
If you can’t make it along to Leicester or Edinburgh, there is a variety of comedy and caberet tickets on sale on lastminute.com
