Congratulations to all of the bloggers who have made the Oh You Lucky Bloggers 50 list. This is our new monthly chart of the top travel and lifestyle blogs about good stuff which we’ll publish here on the lastminute.com blog.

There is something very special about discovering a blog that has the extra good stuff factor – for me it’s not just a window into another world which I want to know more about, it’s about inspiration too.

We’ve been on a 2.0 odyssey to seek out the best in travel and lifestyle, which is why you’ll find blogs about restaurants, theatre, spa, music and comedy featured here as well as London, Manchester and Birmingham which are all places brimming with social media.

In recognition of these great blogs, it’s time for you to put your feet up, grab a coffee and enjoy the journey – each of these blogs has been chosen for it’s unique personality and tantalising content, so it’s going to be a great read.

Do you want to know how we reached our conclusions? Well, there have been a few tinkerings with google page rank, Alexa and some profiling on twitter but that’s the boring stuff. What we’ve also rated these blogs on is their ability to deliver compelling and engaging content about their chosen subject areas within the travel and lifestyle arena.

Please feel free to suggest a blog and let us know by leaving a comment.

Great list. I love reading happytime blog. Next time…maybe, give our blog a gander, who knows what you’ll learn about the daily grind of life in dysfunctional Asia!

  • My blog is a foodie’s tour of Bologna with recipes from my favourite restaurants. The city has two great attractions for eaters. It has Italy’s best regional cusine – in the view of most Italians (in their more dispassionate moments) – and it has the most enthusiastic eating culture. It also has a glorious cityscape, with miles of ochre coloured porticos and an unspoilt historic centre: a perfect backdrop to good food.

People outside Italy vaguely recognise the appeal of Bologna – they eat spag bol, lasagne, parmesan and balsamic – but it rarely figures in their travel plans. Fine, nobody wants Bologna to be swamped with tourists like Florence and Rome, pushing up prices and diluting quality.

Now, if you don’t want to or can’t go to Bologna, you can enjoy cucina bolognese at home with my blog – almost, for what you’ll miss is the buzz of a city where you live to eat.

This time next year the blog will have become a book, in time for Christmas 2011.
