Foreverism – the way we live today

June 4th, 2009

You may have seen some news recently about our research will revealed that in the UK, we are mad for it when it comes to social networking when we are on holiday.

Well I guess, we’re not wrong, and our heralds of all things new and spangly at trendwatching have spotted this too and identified this new trend as Foreverism.

foreverism

Well how did it all happen?

By definition, Foreverism, encompasses the many ways that consumers and businesses are embracing conversations, relationships, and products that are never done. Driving its popularity is technology that allows them to find, follow, interact and collaborate forever with anyone and anything.

So I decided it was time we had a little social catch up with our good friend Reinier Evers, CEO of trendwatching.com to find out what this all means.

Q Tell us a bit about Foreverism

A Please see the briefing www.trendwatching.com/trends/foreverism

Q Foreverism is really interesting to us. We know that people are doing a lot of social networking while they’re on holiday even – why do you think that is?

A Social networking is not work, it’s fun, it’s life, it’s about meeting new people and staying in touch, so it’s forever, including hols

Q How can people best interact with social media when they’re away from home.

A It’s not a matter of ‘how’ perhaps, but ‘what’.
– Do you want to keep folks back home updated?
– Do you want to meet locals?
– Do you want to log off for a few weeks?

Depending on your needs, you can use (or not use) social media tailored to your holiday needs.

Q Are you a Foreverist and how?

A Yes we are. We believe in conversations with our clients, and we feel we’re never done with our output: our process really IS the product these days ;-)

Thanks Reinier, we’ll just keep at it then!
