Is your Maycation a Staycation? Here’s our Tips for ‘Brits Unabroad’
May 21st, 2009
27% of the population are more likely to holiday in the UK this year, citing the recession and swine flu as key factors.
So it looks like next week’s Bank Holiday and half term break will be the Maycation Staycation.
Our clever research people have uncovered that this year already there’s been a 10% increase in domestic bookings across our inventory.
Alarmingly though, we’ve also found that a stonking 47% of you staycationers are wasting your precious free time at home. Social networking is taking up nearly half our time with 42% of 18-24 year olds constantly updating Twitter and Facebook instead of getting out and doing good stuff.
We’ve even found that people on holiday are dropping by the office and checking blackberries, or simply doing nothing.
It’s definitely time for a wake up call when we discover only 1 in 10 of us has holidayed in the UK in the past decade and 10% of 18-24 year olds can’t name a single attraction within an hour of their home.
Fear not staycationers! We’re here to rescue you and help buck this trend. Our lovely people in the travel and lifestyle teams have come up with our Great British Good Stuff and even compiled a couple of Top 10s for you to get your brain cells churning up some inspiration.
